The tradition of Wassailing is an English folk practice of singing and offering cider to the trees of an orchard in order to bring forth a bountiful harvest in the following year. It is believed to have originated with the anglo-saxons in the early middle ages, and can be credited as the start of the later winter tradition of Caroling, as it typically was practiced in winter after the current year's harvest season was over.
With such a namesake, the Wassailing Chemise Dress takes inspiration from the ancient folk traditions that upheld practical life throughout history. It features simplistic Medieval & Renaissance folk inspired details like a cinching neckline tied with lacing ribbons, Virago / Juliet style puff sleeves, and a full skirt, all crafted in a semi-sheer cotton printed with an abundant apple harvest. Accesorize it accordingly with our Medieval Velvet Ribbon Belt, or perhaps a corset.
